In The Belly Of The Big Fish You stink, and you have muck all over you, now what do you do? Prayer Warrior Ministries - God told Jonah,"Go to Ninevah, tell them I am going to destroy them because they are wicked." Jonah jumps right up, and runs the opposite direction from Ninevah, hops on the first ship heading west, sits back and thinks,"Well, now, that is that, I am on my way outta here." While on the ocean, a great storm blows up and threatens to send the ship and all the crew to the bottom of the sea. While the sailors and the captain are running around throwing what they could overboard, Jonah is in a deep sleep in the hold of the ship. The captain runs down the steps to wake him up, shouting , "Get up man! How can you sleep at a time like this? Pray to your God, maybe He will have mercy on us!" When the sailors discover that Jonah is running from God, they became very frightened and ask Jonah what should we do as the storm is getting worse and worse. Jonah tells them, "Throw me into the sea, for I know this storm is all my fault." So, after much debate, Jonah is tossed overboard, and the wind stops immediately. Sitting in the belly of the big fish, Jonah prays to God, asking forgiveness, and repents of his foolish behavior. Immediately, God orders the fish to spit him up, thereby depositing Jonah in all his fishy glory onto the beach. Have you ended up in the belly of the big fish? I know I've ended up there a time or two, sitting in the muck, praying to God to get me out of there! Seems like just when we think we have ourselves all lined out, we KNOW just where we are going, and KNOW just exactly what God wants us to do, He asks us to do something that we weren't counting on. "Go to Ninevah?" we think, "Oh, no God, surely not me, You must have me confused with Brother Joe, he's a much better speaker than I, people will listen to him before they would even give me a chance." Does that sound familiar? To some, it will. God has been asking you to do something, and you think you are not capable, or not really who God is wanting, so you do nothing. You sit and sit in the belly of the big fish, wondering "Why?" The way out of there is really very simple. First, realize that God knows exactly who He calls, He does not make mistakes, and whether or not you think you are qualified or ready, God believes you are. Second, ask God to forgive you, repent of your foolishness, then prepare to be spit out of that fish onto dry land. Finally, before you can even get the fishy smell washed off, start heading to Ninevah. Remember, God does not call the equipped, He equips the called. http://sites.silaspartners.com/prayerwarriors |
